Why I built this

A few years ago I broke my ankle playing in the park. I couldn't walk or drive. But the most heartbreaking thing was that I could no longer teach or practise yoga. For weeks I was house-bound, constantly anxious and slipping deeper and deeper into a difficult patch.

Then I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. After a brief consultation the doctor prescribed chemo drugs and said I'd need them for the rest of my life. I was in so much pain I couldn't open the taps at home or even a packet of nuts. It took almost two years to sort my health, my body and my mind out — but every step of the way I had the teachings and philosophy of yoga guiding me back to myself.

Eventually I got back on my mat. It was slow, and I felt like a beginner all over again. I had to relearn my body, my limits, where to push and how to be kind to myself. And as my confidence grew, it all became clear: I needed to share these lessons with more people. Not just how to get into Down Dog — but using the incredible power of these practices to evolve and improve every aspect of life.
